The Amo Educational and Relief Services Organization (AERSO) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, non-partisan and a woman headed local organization established in 2011 by a group of educated Afghan women who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees and returnees.

Since 2011, AERSO has been a member of the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN); one of the most prestigious women’s organizations in Afghanistan.

Rural Livelihoods

Unemployed men, women and youth have secured entrepreneurial opportunities and sustainable employment To do this we will:

  • Assist the unemployed, but women in particular, to establish their own self-help andincome-generating groups (CBOs).
  • Provide individuals and self-help group members business training and advice for establishing and managing their own enterprises, including value chain development.
  •  Make vocational skills training available to the unemployed in the community, particularly women and youth, and new businesses.
  • Provide job seekers (mainly youth) with training in looking for jobs and making job applications.

Informal Education and Support to Schools

All those in our target communities who have missed out on formal education have achieved basic literacy and received general education.
To do this we will:

  •  Provide courses in accelerated learning to children who have missed out on formal education;
  • Provide literacy courses to illiterate adults (men and women) in the community
  • Ensuring protection and support of child rights; Collaboration with different government departments on education, rights and development issues and capacity building.
  • Promote quality education, particularly for girls, among parents and community leaders in order to raise demand and support for increased and better education.

Organizational Development

Capacity building of staff, policy changes, strengthens management system, socialization of new vision/mission/code of conduct, appointing qualified and experiences staff for the right positions as per organogram, setting up staff motivations practices, fund raising action plan (link with private sectors), appointing fund raising and marketing person.

Women empowerment

Organizing and mobilizing women and youth groups for an empowerment process through community based activities and approach.

  • Mobilize women in their local communities by forming women’s forums and councils
  • Promote and encourage income-generating activities among women through entrepreneurship trainings
  •  increase women’s job capacity and legal awareness
